About Peninsula Catering
Our Story
Welcome to Peninsula Catering, an award-winning events catering company based in Birkenhead and serving customers in Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.
A passion from plate to pass
Our founder, Dave, has always had a passion for cooking and began his training at Coq d’Argent in London. After several years working in fine dining restaurants, he began to move into events catering and worked with some of the most prestigious companies in London.
This included working on events such as the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory premiere in the West End, Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara party, and even cooking for the Royal Family at King Charles’ 65th birthday party.
During this time he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with some incredible chefs, including Raymond Blanc, Niklas Ekstedt, Angela Hartnett and Mark Hix.
After returning to the Wirral in 2016 and finding a suitable premises, Peninsula Catering was born. Serving quality, freshly prepared food, the business grew and we catered our first weddings in 2019.
However, in March 2020, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and like many businesses, Peninsula Catering was forced to close its doors. As Dave’s wife is a doctor, he stayed at home to look after their children so she could dedicate her time to working on the front line in the hospital.
As the pandemic continued, Dave made the decision to relocate the business to a new location in Birkenhead and we reopened in the summer of 2021. After a very busy end to the year we were named best wedding caterer in Merseyside at the Hitched Awards 2022, which we managed to retain in 2023. As well as being named a ‘threebestrated’ caterer in the Wirral in 2022 and 2023.
Today, Peninsula Catering continues to offer high-quality food and exceptional service to the people of Merseyside,Cheshire and North Wales. We are proud of our heritage and the journey that we have taken to get here. We remain committed to using only the best ingredients and preparing everything fresh to order.

Catering for the community
We were lucky enough to be asked to cater for the 2022 camp at Barnstondale, and have been asked back for 2023! The charity was celebrating their 60th anniversary and was such a rewarding experience to be involved with.
The camp gives parents some respite while the children get to experience a range of activities. The team of volunteers are a credit to society and ensure the children cram as much fun as possible into their holiday. Everything from archery and swimming to days out at the safari park and even a diamond bling buffet to celebrate.
Our task was to match their effort and enthusiasm so we created a bespoke package of delicious food which included themed dinners and interactive sessions where the children got to make their own pizzas and build their own tacos.
Some of the children have very complex dietary requirements and wherever possible we provided them the same experiences as the other children so they could be involved in the fun.
Get involved
If you would like to get involved or know of any disabled children aged 9-15 who would benefit from the programme please visit the Heswall Camp website.
It’s a fantastic cause and an experience you will never forget.
